1. Data Collection Service:
This is the specialised service for collection of date regarding the pupils, their abilities, interests, aptitudes, personality traits, scholastic achievement, family background and other information.
The data will help the guidance worker to understand each pupil so as to direct him to the suitable educational for vocational course. This data is collected through tests of various type (educational and psychological), questionnaires, rating scales, observation, interview and medical examination. The data collected is recorded in the shape of cumulative record card.
2. Occupational Information Service:

It relates to the collection and dissemination of information regarding the various educational courses and occupations, which is available from such sources as the Colleges, Employment Exchanges, State Bureaus of Guidance, etc. This information is systematically arranged and imparted to the pupils through talks and demonstrations.
3. Self-Inventory Service:
This service is concerned with helping the pupil to obtain needed information about his abilities, aptitudes, assets and liabilities, so as to give him self-consciousness and proper understanding.
4. Counselling Service:
This service is intended to give personal guidance and advice through interview with the pupil, so as to help him solve his adjust-mental, scholastic and vocational problems. The counselling interview is held by the counseller in a free and friendly atmosphere leading to personal equation and rapport.
5. Vocational Preparatory Service:
This special service is designed to help the pupil to make preparation for a future vocation through pre-service training, in-service training or apprenticeship. Such training is usually provided by industrial concerns and special institutions.

But schools can perform the special task of arranging such preparation in the school on limited scale, and guiding the pupils preparatory training on a past-time basis in the evening or on a full time basis. It can direct the pupils for supervised correspondence courses and private coaching in special technical fields.
6. The Placement Service:
This service is the main wing of the guidance programme, which helps the pupils to get admission into schools, colleges or training institutions, or to get suitable jobs.
It acquaints the pupil with the necessary formalities of filling up admission form, going for job-interview, preparing for the interview, and obtaining the needed admission or job. This is the final end of the guidance service, when it is assured that the individual pupil has obtained cherished job, and is settled in life.
7. Follow-Up and Adjustment Service:
This service is meant to find out the effectiveness of the earlier services, by getting information about the gradual progress and success of the individual in his educational or professional career.
Information about the person is collected after he leaves the schools, and a brief record of his study or employment is kept for reference. This information is gathered through sending a questionnaire, letters, interview or telephonic talk. The follow-up service helps on the correct appraisal of the utility of the guidance provided.
8. Research Service:
This is designed to improve the effectiveness of other services by conducting research investigation in the areas of occupational, information, occupational, exploration, technique of counselling test, construction, test interpretation, vocational preparation and the allied fields.
